Leopold Classic Library is delighted to publish this classic book as part of our extensive collection. As part of our on-going commitment to delivering value to the reader, we have also provided you with a link to a website, where you may download a digital version of this work for free. Many of the books in our collection have been out of print for decades, and therefore have not been accessible to the general public. Whilst the books in this collection have not been hand curated, an aim of our publishing program is to facilitate rapid access to this vast reservoir of literature. As a result of this book being first published many decades ago, it may have occasional imperfections. These imperfections may include poor picture quality, blurred or missing text. While some of these imperfections may have appeared in the original work, others may have resulted from the scanning process that has been applied. However, our view is that this is a significant literary work, which deserves to be brought back into print after many decades. While some publishers have applied optical character recognition (OCR), this approach has its own drawbacks, which include formatting errors, misspelt words, or the presence of inappropriate characters. Our philosophy has been guided by a desire to provide the reader with an experience that is as close as possible to ownership of the original work. We hope that you will enjoy this wonderful classic book, and that the occasional imperfection that it might contain will not detract from the experience.

Fourth grade in New Hampshire 1957 was my first experience with the Clematis story. That was a time when we began our school day with The Lord's Prayer & Pledge of Alligiance. My teacher read this fascinating story aloud chapter by chapter which perhaps inspired independent reading. Somehow I never forgot the story about this little orphan girl and I was quite happy to see this children's classic available from Amizon. I purchased two copies for grandkids and I was pleased with the transaction. There are some important moral lessons in this story that are worth sharing with your children.

Clematis Ernest Cobb Bertha B Cobb Books Reviews

I was disappointed but I accept the onus because I remember the book as a child; much smaller, in the type of covers used in children's books of the 40s and there were pencil drawings of Clematis, and this is what I remembered and was sorry was not in this product. I am glad it is around but it will not have the charm of the original for children.
This story of an orphan and her pet kitten never quite reached the popularity that stories of other plucky orphans (or quasi-orphans) received, but readers who are fond of Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm or Anne of Green Gables will find much to enjoy. Like those heroines, Clematis is far from perfect, which keeps some of the more sentimental scenes from cloying.
Print is way too small to read not satisfied.
This is a marvelous, gentle story. It was one of my favorites growing up. I'm pleased to see that it was offered on for free! I'm afraid the hard copy I had of this book went to tatters and is not readable any more. This is a book you could read to your kids or enjoy yourself. It has several morals in the story without it being too preachy. I highly recommend it and its free!
This was my favorite book as a child. We were separated when I left home to be married. I was thrilled to find this book on .
Clematis has many lessons for young and old alike and though written many years ago, it's all still current and wonderful. Her years in an orphanage would be today's child in foster care. And finding a forever family is all that every child dreams of.
I got my first name because my mother read this book many, many years ago and since she had never heard the name Deborah before, she decided that if she ever had a girl, she would name her this. She had forgotten that this was the name of the cat in the story. When I told her, we had a great laugh. Of course I had to give it 5 stars, my mother remembered it for more than 70 years. It must be superb.
I chanced upon this book as it was a free download at the time. I don't really know what drew me to it but it was written the year my dad was born and so I was interested to see what a child's book was like around that period. I found the verbiage charming and reminiscent of that era which made the story of a little orphan quite appealing. I just wish that my granddaughters were a little younger so that I could read it out loud to them.
